Extron XPA Ultra Amplifiers with Switchable Bridging

Extron announces the availability of the XPA U 1004 SB and XPA U 2002 SB, ENERGY STAR qualified audio power amplifiers, featuring flexible channel pairs that can drive 8 ohm, 4 ohm, 70 volt, or 100 volt loads.

The individually bridgeable channel pairs of the XPA U 1004 SB can deliver two 100 watt channels into low impedance systems or one 200 watt channel into low or high impedance systems, while the XPA U 2002 SB delivers 200 watts and 400 watts respectively. A rotary switch on the rear panel of the amplifier makes it easy to select the desired output mode.

"These XPA Ultra 'SB' models greatly simplify the process of creating bridged channel output pairs for more power and greater flexibility", says Casey Hall, VP Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Extron. "Designers, dealers, and installers will appreciate the ability of these models to meet the requirements of a wide variety of system designs."

These convection-cooled, plenum-rated enclosures do not require empty rack spaces for ventilation and include rack mount hardware. Both models feature Extron's highly efficient advanced Class D amplifier design with defeatable auto standby, fast wake up from standby, and patented CDRS - Class D Ripple Suppression.

XPA Ultra SB models also support remote volume and mute control using an Extron VCM, VC or select MediaLink controllers.

ISE Publishes Guidelines for a Healthy ISE 2021

A risk assessment-- carried out to World Health Organization guidelines-- rates the overall risk of transmission and further spread of COVID-19 at ISE 2021 as ‘low’-- if the Fira de Barcelona and ISE implement certain safety conditions.

Fira de Barcelona, risk consultancy AON and the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona jointly devised strategies for upcoming events at the Fira.

The assessment looked at the risk factors associated with events as well as the impact of specifically formulated safety measures. More than 60 processes or services were evaluated and analyzed, identifing 948 mitigation points.

More Language Options for Savant Pro App

Savant adds language capabilities to the Savant Pro App, including Portuguese, Russian and Swedish. The announcement follows the addition of Spanish and Chinese language support, and provides more localisation options for installers.

Language localisation is available in the iOS version of the Savant Pro app. It enhances both the intuitiveness of the app navigation experience and user creation of Savant Scenes, timers and event notifications. Further features include integrated energy automation with more Energy modes, circadian lighting automation with Daylight Mode, on-screen control with the Savant Home app for Apple TV and the ergonomically redesigned Pro Remote X2.

Gira adds an integrated temperature sensor to the Gira KNX Mini Komfort presence detector, allowing the sensor to respond to thermal motion in addition to light, leading to less energy waste.

According to Futuresource, the combined financial impact of the coronavirus (aka Covid-19) pandemic on the CE, entertainment content and proAV industries is worth as much as $120 billion, at least in comparison with pre-pandemic forecasts.

“Interruptions within supply and manufacturing chains, coupled with the necessary social lockdowns have inevitably led to substantial downward pressure on many industries,” the analyst says. “It’s evident that large employers are being hit severely, particularly in tourism and financial services. Businesses with tightly integrated supply chains and those working on lean manufacturing principles are also heavily exposed, with hotspots within automotive and industrial. In contrast, some categories within CE, entertainment and professional AV sectors are benefiting from the social distancing measures. Video conferencing, gaming and subscription video on demand (SVoD) are good examples.”

URC Integrates With Lutron QSX HomeWorks Processors

URC launches a two-way IP module allowing installers to integrate the Total Control system with the Lutron QSX HomeWorks processors, specifically the recently available HQP7-1 and HQP7-2 processors.

“This two-way IP module, developed natively by URC engineers in collaboration with Lutron, provides easy control of Lutron’s HomeWorks system and allows dealers to mix and match Lutron’s QS Wired and Wireless lighting systems for control from any URC Total Control user interface,” URC says. “Better yet, it is easy for Total Control dealers to integrate since Total Control will pull in the programming from the Lutron system into the Total Control program.”

Chord Company launches a first product under the English Electric brand-- the 8Switch, an ethernet switch the company says is designed to deliver high-quality sound from music streamed over a network.
