Harman luxury brand Lexicon launches a successor to the MC-12 surround processor at CES 2014-- the MC-14, a high-end 7.1 channel preamplifier/processor promising "extensive" connectivity and control features.
Ideal for the more sophisticated of home theatres and multi-room home entertainment setups, the MC-14 is designed as the optimal pairing for the Lexicon's own RX-7 and ZX-7 multi-channel amplifiers. Inputs include 8 HDMI, 9 digital audio, 6 stereo analog and 7.1 analog, while outputs included balanced and single-ended audio, headphone jack and 2 HDMI.
Connectivity comes through ethernet and RS-232 ports, IR input and trigger inputs/outputs.
Further audiophile-impressing features include Crystal Semiconductor D/A converters, discrete Class A audio circuitry, separate power supplies for the analog and digital sections, a bypass mode providing an all-analog signal path and compatibility with Dolby Digital and DTS formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
The company claims "The MC-14 delivers the very best from the widest range of program sources including computer-based audio and media servers, and is sure to satisfy the most demanding home theater enthusiasts and audiophiles." We should be able to confirm once it is available from April 2014.
