Bang & Olufsen uses its first appearance at ISE to reveals its take on automation-- the BeoLink Gateway, a combination of hardware and software promising full home control from a single interface.

B&O ISE 2014Designed with installers in mind, the Gateway allows real-time audio, video and automation configuration for easy set up and integration of devices (including 3rd party offerings) in different rooms and zones. One can also create macros or scenes by combining strings of actions across any system, allowing control of music, lights and HVAC with a simple switch.

The configuration tool is pre-installed with hundreds of drivers and features a simple GUI to effectively take out the coding from home automation programming.

In turn home devices controlled via single remote, touchscreen or tablet, using either B&O TVs and audio components or 3rd party devices.

"The market for integrated home technology in Europe and beyond is expanding rapidly," the company says. "Homes will only become more intelligent in the future-– now, they will also look and sound even better.”

Also seen at the show is BeoSystem 4 video engine, with support for 2D and 3D video, HDMI, hybrid broadband TV (HbbTV), a variety of picture formats (including CinemaScope A and B for projectors), VisionClear technology and dedicated film and gaming modes. The surround sound module is improved to handle up to 12 channels in full surround, while TrueImage technology handles audio signal up- and down-mixing.
