Yamaha Intros High-End Amp, Player

  • PDF

Yamaha launches a pair of high-end stereo components-- the A-S2100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier and the CD-S2100 SD/SACD player armed with USB DAC designed by Steinberg.

Yamaha ampThe A-2100 features what Yamaha calls a "floating and balanced power amplifier," a more advanced version of the one inside the company's A-S3000 flagship amp. It features output elements with the same polarity on the plus and minus sides of the output stage for a balanced design Yamaha claims separates the negative feedback circuit from the power supply for cleaner, richer sound.

MOFSET amplification pushes a sound similar to valve amplification (if without the expense and fragility of the technology) while working in conjunction with the amplifier by having same polarity on both sides.

Yamaha playerMeanwhile the CD-S2100 carries a high-precision drive mechanism to eliminate unwanted noise and jitter, and a Steinberg-designed USB DAC paired with a 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC.

The digital and analogue circuitry inside the CD-S2100 is separate, with independent power supplies on each side to eliminate interference and noise between the digital and analogue circuits. The analogue power transformer is toroidal, and promises to isolate left and right sides via winding stabilised power supply circuit.

Both A-S2100 and CD-S2100 will be available by Q3 2014.
