Crestron Intros Pyng Automation

Crestron claims to offer a home automation system in an app with Pyng, an iPad app allowing installers to create lifestyle scenes for each room, schedule events and more right from the tablet, without need for a PC.

Crestron PyngFirst seen at CEDIA Expo 2014, Pyng streamlines initial home setup by pairing accessories, such as Crestron wireless lighting controls, shading solutions, thermostats, Yale wireless door locks and security systems, with the app.

A compact hub device connects accessories with the app, runs scenes and events without need for iPad presence, and backs up all home settings to the cloud. Once setup is complete users can modify changes or create new scenes using the app, and adding a new iPhone or iPad is as easy opening the app while connected to the home wifi network.

Installers can add any Crestron product to a Pyng system, including DigitalMedia, distributed audio and more, with seamless compatibility allowing the Pyng app to run on a TSW touchscreen and for AV system events to trigger environmental scenes within Pyng.

“Pyng is home automation built from the app up,” Crestron says. “With Pyng, you are not adding an app to your automation system. The app is your automation system.”
