Candy House proposes a simpler means for customers to install a smartphone-powered door key replacement with Sesame, a smart lock one can simply tape over existing deadbolts with no tools required.
Once attached to the lock, the Sesame pairs with smartphones via Bluetooth LE and companion app. An additional Wifi Access Point accessory adds internet connectivity for remote locking and unlocking, while included lithium batteries promise up to 500 days of use.
The company claims the Sesame is compatible with "just about any single cylinder deadbolt in the world," and one can install it at any angle with no need to replace or remove anything. It also features a universal latch for manual operation, while an accelerometer allows door opening via secret knock patterns.
The Sesame is currently on Kickstarter for crowdfunding/preorders, and should ship from May 2015 in either white, silver, black or pink.
