How To Integrate Doorbells with Sonos

  • PDF

A pair of integrators and MIT engineers present the Netonos Note, a means to integrate Sonos multi-room audio systems with doorbells and surround sound receivers, allowing the playback of whole-house announcements.

Netonos NoteThe Note stacks on top of Sonos Connect Network controller, and supplies automated control of surround receiver power on and off, source selection and volume control, eliminating the need for multiple remotes.

It is compatible with most AV receivers, including Denon, Marantz and Yamaha, via ethernet, RS-232, IR or 12V trigger.

As for doorbell functionality, the Note allows use of custom chimes, much like how one can choose a ringtone. If the doorbell rings, the Note pauses the music and plays the chime throughout all Sonos speakers.

In addition, the system can even translate text messages to voice for playback throughout the house, providing a means to alert home inhabitants of important events or let children know that dinner is ready.

The Netonos Note hits Kickstarter on 20 May 2015, where the company will be looking to raise $80000 to cover first run development and production costs. If the preorder/crowdfunding campaign is successful the Note should ship from January 2016.
