Netgear Updates Security With Arlo Q

  • PDF

Netgear launches an update on the Arlo home security camera-- the Arlo Q, a Nest Cam-style device featuring 1080p video recording, 2-way audio and 7 days of free cloud video recording.

Arlo QThe Arlo Q records video using a 4MP image sensor, 130-degree wide-angle lens and built-in night vision. It connects to wifi networks and promises easy control via companion iOS/Android app complete with live video feed access, 2-way audio and notifications in case of sound or motion detection.

Users can create specific activity zones and alert times, with customisable smart detection promising to lessen false alarms caused by lighting changes, natural background movement and normal ambient sounds. One can also control multiple Arlo and Arlo Q cameras through the same app.

Meanwhile free cloud storage allows access to 7 days of saved motion- and sound-triggered videos. An additional fee provides Continuous Video Recording (CVR) with cloud storage of non-stop 24/7 video feeds.

Customers can count the camera using multiple options-- desktop, magnetic or wall mounts.

“With Arlo Q, our goal is to deliver an incredible end-to-end experience that leaves you feeling as though you are right there in your home, even though you may be a world away,” Netgear says. “[W]e are excited to be adding a new set of powerful software features to the Arlo platform, including motion zones, continuous video recording, and digital zoom, that will even further enhance the Arlo experience.”
