NuVo, On-Q, Pass & Seymour, Vantage, Watt Stopper and Middle Atlantic parent company Legrand North America buys shading systems maker QMotion for an undisclosed sum.
Post-acquisition QMotion becomes part of the Legrand N. American Building Control Systems (BCS) business, if one retaining relative independence (like NuVo, Vantage and On-Q do).
QMotion window shading systems should easily integrand with Legrand BCS lighting control and automation solutions, creating a comprehensive portfolio of energy efficient lighting control systems aimed at the residential and light-commercial markets. As Legrand puts it, QMotion solutions will add energy efficiency, productivity, safety, security and aesthetics to the places where customers live and work.
"This acquisition is about providing better solutions for controlling light and energy in different spaces. This goes beyond managing just artificial light; it's about glare reduction, reducing heat load, scene setting and other automated controls for managing light and energy," the company adds. "QMotion products offer some unique functionality and energy-efficient benefits that will differentiate us from anything else in the market."
