TP Vision shows off the Philips 2016 TV range, one featuring HDR-compatible 4K/UHD TVs, "immersive" Ambilight technology and an HDR Upscaler promising to add "HDR level performance" to all content.
The flagship model is the 8901 AmbiLux-- a 65-inch TV featuring the unique AmbiLux lighting system using 9 rear-mounted pico projectors to extend on-screen images on the wall behind the TV. Users can even filter the rear projections with different effects (ranging from soft to blocky), and the effect can be synced to music to create an impromptu house rave.
Other 2016 additions are the 6101, 6401, 6501, 7101 and 7601 series-- all featuring 4K panels, HDR compatibility, quad-core processors (except the 6101) and the Android TV platform. Display brightness ranges from 600nits on the 7601, 400nits on the 7010, and 350/400nits on the 6401 and 6501 respectively.
The company also offers the 8601 range, now upgraded with HDR firmware update and a peak light output of 700nits, together with a built-in 50W sound system complete with 16 mico-drivers and 2 neodymium woofers.
Interestingly, TP Vision is launching no 3DTVs in 2016-- further proof that the technology is more or less dead these days.
