The Pansonic 2016 TV lineup gets a flagship with the Viera DX802-- a 4K TV series featuring a design the company says is inspired by top European furniture designers and architects.

Viera DX802Available in 50- and 58-inch sizes, the DX802 has a "unique" polished aluminium frame and bezel and comes with a separate soundbar. Holding the TV is a trapezoid stand featuring what Panasonic calls "Freestyle design" to elevate the finished product from mere TV sey to a stylish piece of furniture.

As for actual TV specs, the display lacks UHD Premium branding but is HDR-capable. It carries a Panasonic Studio Master HCX (Hollywood Cinema Experience) processor and offers a viewing modes promising to produce Hollywood movies with "breathtaking colour accuracy."

On the software side, powering the TV is the Firefox OS smart TV platform complete with Freeview Play, catch-up from main terrestrial channels and integration with home automation systems via Control4 SDDP (Simple Device Discovery Protocol) compatibility.

Meanwhile the included soundbar (dubbed a "12 Train Prismatic speaker") carries 2 tweeters, 4 mid-range squawkers and 6 woofers.

Installers can wall-mount the DX82 using standard VESA mounts. The companion soundbar has keyslots for wall-hanging, but one has to keep in mind it requires a wired connection, with no wireless connectivity or subwoofer options.
