Control4 announces a new range of Pakedge PowerPak power control devices-- PDUs providing centralised power control and management, together with surge protection for all equipment in a connected home.

Pakedge PDUThe PDUs are BakPak-enabled, allowing installers to remotely monitor and manage their entire PowerPak customer base from a single interface. Outlets are individually controllable via telnet or web browser, and can also be pre-programmed. A Control4 driver enables automated and programmed outlet control within a Control4 project, adding intelligent power control to any device not connected to the network.

New PowerPak features include thresholds for current and voltage draw, and self-healing for non-responsive devices. Built-in UL1449 surge protection safeguards connected devices against power spikes, while SafeStart boot sequencing powers devices such as modems, routers and switches in the appropriate order for proper reset and optimal functionality.

“On average, there are over 40 connected devices in a Control4 smart home. The high-impact combination of BakPak and our new PowerPak line gives our dealers powerful tools to monitor and manage virtually all the gear in their customers’ homes—stepping in to remediate issues before they even become apparent to the homeowner,” Control4 says. “Having the ability to remotely troubleshoot issues will save our dealers time and money.”

The range comprises 8 IEC plugs for international markets, and joins an existing line of PDUs with models from 2 outlets up to 20.
