Vivitek Presents HK2288 Budget 4K Projector

  • PDF

Vivitek launches a compact 4K UHD projector option-- the HK2288, built around a recently developed TI 0.66-inch 4K DLP DMD chip able to generate 8.3 million individual pixels.

Vivitek HK2288The projector also offers DLP DarkChip3 and BrilliantColor refinements for optimal black levels. Meanwhile eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR) technology uses 4.15 million (2716x1528) mirrors capable of switching over 9000 times per second to deliver two discrete pixels for each mirror per frame, reformulated through video processing to map and reproduce a native 4K image.

The result, according to Vivitek, fully resolves a 4K 1-pixel line pattern and "is indistinguishable from native 4K projection-- unlike pixel-shifting techniques employing standard 1080p chips."

The HK228 is compatible with HDR10 sources, with contrast rated at 1000000:1 and 2000 ANSI lumens brightness. Advanced video processing adds smooth upscaling and motion, while input lag is around 50 milliseconds. Comprehensive gamma and colour management adjustments allow users to optimise REC709 colour from a 6-segment RGB colour wheel.

Other installer-friendly features include a 1.39-2.09 throw, 1.5x zoom and vertical lens shift for easy setup. Connectivity comes through x3 HDMI 2.0 inputs, and dual IR sensors positioned in the front and back allow control via full-function remote. Lamp life clocks up to 4000 hours when using the Dynamic Economy Mode.

The HK228 is available from December 2017.
