With growing sales of interactive flat-panel solutions, Vision has developed a soundbar loudspeaker which mounts directly beneath the flat-panel.

The SP-2000P has a 30 watt digital amplifier built in. It has two inputs and the volume can be controlled either by the dial positioned on the underside, or by the included remote control.

Ships in June with suggested sales price of GBP 158 or EUR 192.

In a part of the world known for its loudspeaker technology as well as its forests, Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology create a new category of loudspeaker with magnetic cellulose to generate sound without need of a magnet.

Cellulose, that’s right. That makes what’s in this speaker box a DNA relative to its own wooden cabinet.

KTH says the sound quality isn’t at all “wooden” and is “at least as good as in conventional speakers – possibly better because of the even distribution of forces created in the membrane.” (And you can listen to the sound qualityfor yourself using the link at the end of this story.)

KTH have patented the material, created by attaching magnetic nanoparticles to cellulose nanofibrils. The cellulose comes from renewable wood pulp and involves environmentally-friendly water chemistry.

Yamaha launches a pair of high-end stereo components-- the A-S2100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier and the CD-S2100 SD/SACD player armed with USB DAC designed by Steinberg.

The A-2100 features what Yamaha calls a "floating and balanced power amplifier," a more advanced version of the one inside the company's A-S3000 flagship amp. It features output elements with the same polarity on the plus and minus sides of the output stage for a balanced design Yamaha claims separates the negative feedback circuit from the power supply for cleaner, richer sound.

MOFSET amplification pushes a sound similar to valve amplification (if without the expense and fragility of the technology) while working in conjunction with the amplifier by having same polarity on both sides.

NuVo adds a new feature to version 1.8.1 of its iOS Player Portfolio App-- the streaming of content stored on any iDevice running iOS 6 or later directly to the NuVo system.

Audio files stored on the iDevice are accessible provided both device and NuVo Player Portfolio system are on the same network. Once connected, each iPhone or iPad becomes an audio source available as a library within the app.

Italy-based audio maker Eighteen Sound announces the 18iD-- an extended low frequency neodymium transducer for use with Class D and similar (iPal compatible) amplifiers.

It is designed for vented and bandpass subwoofer cabinets and works best with amplifiers capable of delivering 2600W of power (10000W peak).

The transducer features a 5.3-inch inside-outside ISV (Interleaved Sandwich Voice) coil. A low-density material air diffractor inside the heatsink acts as a cooling system, increasing power handling capability and lower power compression figures.

Sony starts shipping a pair of wireless speakers-- the SRS-X7 and SRS-X5, both packing Bluetooth connectivity with AAC and aptX support, ClearAudio+ and one-touch listening via NFC within a minimalist design.

Also featured is wired input via 3.5mm jack and USB, as well as with dual-passive radiator subwoofers.
