SnapAV's Araknis brand launches the 700 Series Outdoor Wireless Access Point-- a WAP offering the same networking capabilities as the indoor 700 Series WAP, only in an element-resistant body.

Araknis Series 700Designed for use in outdoor spaces such as decks, pergolas, large yards and guest houses, the 700 Series Outdoor WAP features an IP55 rating for resistance to rain, wind or dust. It also includes the proprietary OvrC remote system monitoring platform to help with fast installation and eliminate truck rolls.

A 3x3 antenna configuration allows it to deliver up to 1750Mbps of throughput, together with network-friendly functions such as band-steering, beamforming and fast roaming. It handles the 802.11a/b/g/n/c wifi, together with 802.11r/k.

TechLogix Networx announces the TL-TP40-HDC2-- an extender set designed to transmit 18G 4K@60 4:4:4 HDMI and HDR video signals up to 40m using standard twisted pair cable.

Techlogix extenderTo do so it uses HDBaseT technology. The input is HDMI and audio, while the audio is UTP. Power comes through external power supply.

Built-in bi-directional IR and RS232 control signal embedding allows the remote control of connected sources and displays, and replaces long distance HDMI cables with UTP cables.

WyreStorm launches the H2C modular HDBaseT matrix series with the MX-606 and 808-HDBT-H2C, both designed for multi-source, multi-zone distribution of HDCP 2.2 4K UHD video with HDR and multi-source audio matrix switching.

Wyrestorm H2CIdeal for medium-sized residential or commercial environments, the H2C series is available in a 6- or 8-way PoH-ready matrix chassis. Each card offers distinct video, audio and transmission capabilities (through HDBaseT) one can combine in any quantity or order to customise installation to specific applications.

Thus, the TX-H2-MIR offers HDBaseT Class A transmission with mirrored HDMI output (4K: 70m/1080p: 100m). It features a duplicate HDMI output mirroring the HDBaseT output for connection of an additional local screen, AVR or WyreStorm extender solution. Meanwhile the TX-H2-ARC features HDBaseT Class A transmission with S/PDIF ARC output (4K: 70m/1080p: 100m), with ARC supporting transmission of on-demand 5.1 audio content to make the most of smart TVs.

Key Digital launches the KD-2x1CSK (a 2x1 switcher) and the KD-4x1CSK (4x1 switcher)-- both capable of switching 4K HDMI signals with HDCP 2.2.

Key Digital matrixThe two switchers support all SD, HD, VESA and 4K video standards, including 4096 x 2160, 1080p60, 1920x1200 and 3D, and both offer control through either front panel push buttons or optical IR switching. Also included are EDID control and a built-in internal library of 15 EDID handshakes, in addition to EDID data of output/display one.

A full buffer systems manages TMDS re-clocking/signal re-generation, HDCP source and display authentication, Hot Plug Management and EDID control handshakes.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) add a new capability to the wireless connectivity standard-- mesh networking, enabling many-to-many (m:m) capability and the creation of large-scale device networks.

Bluetooth MeshThe technology is compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 and higher, and operates on Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). It is ideal for building automation, sensor networks and other Internet of Things (IoT) applications involving tens, hundreds or even thousands or devices. According to the SIG, Bluetooth-based mesh networks are inherently self-healing, with no single point of failure, scalable to thousands of nodes and include "industrial-grade" security.

In addition Bluetooth offers global interoperability, since multi-vendor interoperability testing is conducted during the specification development process, not after the release of the specification.

USB Gets 3.2 Update

The USB 3.0 Promoter Group announces the USB 3.2 specification-- an incremental update defining multi-lane operation for USB 3.2 hosts and devices, allowing for faster communications over USB-C cables.

USB PortThe update allows USB 3.2 devices to handle up to two traffic lanes of 5Gbps or two lanes of 10Gbps operation. As a result, a USB 3.2 host connected to a USB 3.2 storage device is capable of data transfers reaching over 2GB/s over an existing USB-C cable certified for Super Speed USB 10Gbps.

In addition, USB 3.2 continues to use existing SuperSpeed USB physical layer data rates and encoding techniques, while a minor hub specification update addresses the increase in performance for seamless transition between single and two-lane operation.
