Aten announces the VS82H, a means to distribute a 4K source to two HDMI displays at the same time complete with support for all kinds of HDMI-enabled equipment, such as DVD players and satellite STBs.

The splitter is HDCP 2.2 compliant, and includes automatic EDID detection to ensure customers with the best resolution across different screens. It supports the entire HDMI 2.0 feauture set, as well as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master 7.1 audio channel to ensure distortionless audio quality. Maximum resolution reaches true 4K (4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz, 4:4:4) with HDMI support, with maximum data rates of up to 18Gbps (6Gbps per lane).

Camplex starts shipping seven versions of the popular TAC-N-GO tactical signal extender systems able to convert and extend 4K HD/3G/6G/12G-SDI, HDMI, 100BaseT ethernet or audio signals over tactical fiber optic cable, depending on the model.

Each system consists of a field-deployable fibre optic converter system connected to a cable reel hub. All models include 305m of tactical single-mode fibre optic cable loaded on a rugged cable reel, as well as power supplies for rapid field deployment in any environment. The TAC-N-GO series features simple adjustments to meet deployment requirements by allowing the attachment of either transmitter or receiver to the reel.

Extron adds 16x8 and 16x16 models to the DXP HD 4K PLUS series of HDMI matrix switchers, both with support for data rates up to 18Gbps and video resolutions up to 4K/60.

In addition, the switchers handle 4:4:4 colour sampling, HDR, Deep Color up to 12-bit, 3D, HD lossless audio formats and CEC, with technologies such as EDID Minder and Key Minder ensuring both system performance and compliance with HDCP-encrypted content. The matrix switchers also facilitate integration into a wide range of AV applications with audio de-embedding and audio breakaway capabilities.

The Watchguard Firebox T-series of unified threat management (UTM) appliances promise residential installers a means to offer customers with scalable, enterprise-guard network security.

Featuring simple, plug-and-play installation, the Firebox T-series appliances provide a strong defense against the rising tide of online attacks, including advanced malware, ransomware, botnets, trojans, viruses, drive-by downloads, data loss and phishing. Aimed primarily at residential or small business applications, the T15, T35 and T55 UTM firewall boxes plug into the LAN backbone and can handle up to 35 users with up to five wired network connections.

Linksys takes to CES 2020 to announce a range of networking hardware featuring 5G and Wifi 6 technology, all promising to bring faster downloads and lower latency while future-proofing the home.

The first set of products announced revolves around 5G. The 5G Mobile Hotspot offers both 5G and Wifi 6, and has a USB for Quick Charge capabilities. The 5G Modem provides access to 5G networking at home, and combines with Velop systems to provide mesh networking. The Velop 5G Mesh Gateway does something with Linkys Intelligent Mesh technology and AX/Wifi 6 for a two-in-one modem and router solution. Finally the 5G Outdoor Router does what it says on the tin, and adds a 10Gbps wired connection.

Extron adds the DXP 42 HD 4K PLUS to the DXP HD 4K PLUS line of high-end matrix switchers-- a 4x2 model supporting data rates of up to 18Gbps and video resolutions reaching 4K@60Hz with 4:4:4 chroma sampling.

In order to maintain signal integrity and reliability, the switcher provides automatic cable equalisation on each input and independent output reclocking to reshape and restore video signal timing on both HDMI outputs. EDID Minder and Key minder ensure what Extron says is optimal system performance and compliance with HDCP-encrypted content.

The matrix switcher also facilitates easy integration into a wide variety of professional AV applications with audio de-embedding and audio breakaway capabilities. The audio outputs simplify integration with a local audio system. Installers can switch embedded digital audio from a source along with the corresponding video signal to either or both selected HDMI outputs.
