Welcome the Face Recognising Camera

French Internet of Things (IoT) startup Netatmo launches the Welcome, a Dropcam-style smart home camera featuring proprietary facial recognition technology paired with video feed streaming on iOS and Android devices.

Welcome cameraFirst seen back at CES 2015, the Welcome consists of an anodised aluminium cylinder armed with a camera, 130-degree camera, infrared LEDs and motion sensors. It streams 1920x1080 video (including nighttime video) and can store video either locally (on included microSD cloud) or on the cloud.

However the main draw is the facial recognition-- Netatmo says the technology can recognise registered faces even if it only catches a glimpse as they walk past. The camera also sends mobile device alerts should it notice an unknown face.

A pair of integrators and MIT engineers present the Netonos Note, a means to integrate Sonos multi-room audio systems with doorbells and surround sound receivers, allowing the playback of whole-house announcements.

Netonos NoteThe Note stacks on top of Sonos Connect Network controller, and supplies automated control of surround receiver power on and off, source selection and volume control, eliminating the need for multiple remotes.

It is compatible with most AV receivers, including Denon, Marantz and Yamaha, via ethernet, RS-232, IR or 12V trigger.

Lilin Security Gets Crestron Drivers

Custom installers can now integrate Lilin cameras and NVRs, including its latest 360-degree surveillance camera, with Crestron home control and automation systems via drivers developed by UK-based Janus Technology.

Lilin CameraThe drivers provide two-way integration with Crestron for all compatible network cameras, as well as one-way control of DVR/NVRs. The result? Full CCTV control functionality complete with pan, tilt and zoom controls, plus MJPEG stream monitoring, on the Crestron panel.

Lilin says Crestron processors can communicate directly with connected cameras and DVR/NVRs, and installers can program motion and tamper variables for user alerts, recording initiation and other appropriate actions within the Crestron system.

Panasonic Intros Nubo 4G Cameras

Panasonic Cameramanager launches the Nubo at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015-- a security camera the company says is the first to be 4G-enabled, allowing customers to check camera feeds without a wifi connection.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor (IP-66) use, the Nubo camera is weather resistant and carries a wireless radio for sensor connectivity. Sensor controls enable the detection of human figures (for tailored alerts and alarms), while 2-way communications allow users to communicate through the camera in case of alerts.

Lilin NVR Security at ISE 2015

Security vendor Lilin launches its latest Network Video Recorder (NVR) models, as well as a covert surveillance solution, at ISE 2015, which the company says are designed for the custom installation market.

Lilin NVRFeaturing high gloss black enclosures and no front panel controls, the NVRs handle 16 channels and are available in 100, 200 and 400fps versions-- the NVR100L, NVR200L and NVR400L.

The other Lilin offering at ISE is the IPC0122-- a modular pinhole camera the company describes as a "discreet IP solution." It streams 1080p images at 30fps, with a 6m cable allowing installation flexibility, and can send email alarms when either detecting sound and motion or tampered with.
