Origin Acoustics Releases Performance Subwoofers

Origin Performance SubsOrigin Acoustics adds three floor-standing powered subwoofers to the Performance Subwoofer range, all featuring coated paper woofers, high-powered digital amplifiers and lightly textured and brushed finished.

According the company, the subwoofers deliver more volume and lower frequencies from a smaller cabinet complete with a more attractive aesthetic. The collection also benefits from an additional down-firing passive radiator providing extended bass frequencies and volume with no extra power consumption. All models feature a premium grain finish, the result of a hybrid wrap with a tactile finish making them suitable for display.

MSE Audio announces the residential and proAV loudspeaker solutions on show at ISE 2020, including the Dante-enabled SoundTube Soundbar, the STNet Pendant speakers and displays featuring a range of outdoor speakers.

MSE Audio ISE 2020The Dante-enabled SoundTube Soundbar is an ultra-think two-way digital end point solution in soundbar configuration. Featuring a built-in amplifier and DSP, it is just 3.8cm thick where it meets the TV. It incorporates a right and left speaker with four 3-inch ultra-long throw polypropylene woofers with NBR surrounds, four bass radiators and two 0.75-inch synthetic soft dome tweeters.

The first pendants in the proAV industry with Dante capability, the STNet Pendant Speakers use BroadBeam Ring high frequency dispersion technology for clear, understandable messaging and music over a wide area, even off-axis from the speakers. Applications include any facility with high or open ceilings, such as large retail stores, houses of worship, schools, hotels, meeting spaces, bars and restaurants.

Theory Audio Ships First Products

Theory Audio Design launches seven products, with a loudspeaker lineup consisting of three high-output soundbars, the sb25 high-output multi-purpose loudspeaker and a pair of passive subwoofers.

The three soundbars, the sb65, sb75 and sb85, are designed to match with 65-, 75-, and 85-inch flat panel TVs, respectively. Meanwhile the sub12 and sub15 passive subwoofer models offer, as the names suggest, either 12- and 15-inch drivers.

IKEA Parties With Teenage Engineering

IKEA takes on the house party as it launches Frekvens, a line of modular Bluetooth-enabled speakers, party lights and appropriate furniture designed in collaboration with Swedish CE maker Teenage Engineering.

The results of the partnership have been a long time coming-- after all, IKEA first announced the partnership back in June 2017. At the heart of the Frekvens (translates to "frequency") collection is the portable music system. It consists of an 8-inch tall speaker complete with 10-hour battery life and either black and red or black and yellow design, a larger option with a subwoofer and a small 4-inch speaker complete with belt clip for carrying around the party.

Meridian-Powered LG Soundbars at CES 2020

CES 2020 sees LG launch a range of soundbars featuring Meridian digital signal processing (DSP) technologies, including the SN SN9YG and SN11RG as well as the flagship SN11RG, a 7.1.4 channel system with two wireless rear speakers.

LG Meridian soundbarThe SN11RG uses the two wireless rear speakers to deliver forward and up-firing sound, with advanced signal processing allowing for 360-degree acoustics. All new models include Meridian Bass and Space, a technology the company says increases the width and scale of the soundstage beyond the physical dimensions of the product. It also supports stable and accurate low-frequency reproduction.

Meanwhile Meridian Image Elevation technology increases the perceived height of the lead instrument or vocal, making it especially important for soundbars positioned below a screen. In turn it creates a more lifelike listening experience. Furthermore, the majority of the 2020 lineup supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X for dynamic and immersive audio.

KEF announces the KEF Reference finish selection for 2020-- a lineup introducing a Silver Satin Walnut finish and an expansion of bespoke Kent Foundry Edition finishes to the Reference 4c and 2c centre speakers.

Pair-matched walnut, real wood veneered cabinets complement the overall design. The Foundry Edition finishes adorning the 2c and 4c centre speakers pay homage to the Madstone beginnings of the company, with Blue Ice White hinting at the original blue of the original KEF logo. Meanwhile Copper Black combines the latest Reference technology with an aesthetic evoking such pedigree.

Together, the 2020 finish selection for floor, bookshelf and centre channel models consists of Piano Black, Silver Satin Walnut, Kent Edition Copper Black and Kent Edition Blue Ice White.
