TruAudio Intros 4-inch Ghost

4-inch GhsotTruAudio creates a 4-inch version of the Ghost in-ceiling speaker-- one fitting the footprint of standard can lighting, allowing it to match with other design elements in the ceiling.

The company says the 4-inch Ghost follows a request from an interior designer.

Like all Ghost in-ceiling speakers the 4-inch version includes a magnetic grille with a 2mm reveal. It features a white glass fibre woofer/titanium tweeter and a polypropylene woofer/silk soft dome swivel tweeter.

Genelec Intros F One, F Two Subwoofers

Genelec F OneGenelec Home Audio launches the F active subwoofer series with the 6-inch F One and 8-inch F Two, both featuring all-metal construction hiding the drivers and connectors on the bottom, ensuring an undisturbed enclosure.

The woofers carry connections and bass management for up to 5.1 channels, and a comprehensive adjustment suite for matching to main loudspeakers (such as the G One) and room acoustics.

Datasat Takes on Home Audio

Commercial cinema digital audio system maker Datasat (formerly known as Digital Theatre Systems) shifts attentions to the home theatre market with the RS20i, an audio processor aimed at the higher ends of the audiophile market.

RS20iDatasat has an impressive audio technology pedigree-- it even has an Academy Award to prove it, received back in 1996 for the development of the DTS Digital Sound System first used to push the roars and rumbles heard in Jurassic Park.

The RS20i is based on the AP20 professional cinema processor. It features 16 audio channels supporting formats ranging from standard 2.1 and 5.1 to 7.1, 9.1 and even 12.4 or 14.2.

Soundmatters Intros Dash 7 Speaker

Soundmatters shrinks down its portable flat Bluetooth speaker range even further with the Dash7, the smallest (by around 40%) speaker from the company to date.

Dash7Described not as a speaker but a "soundbar," the Dash7 delivers output of up to 90dB via combination tweeters/woofers (or "twoofers") armed with flat neodymium drivers pushing a "uniquely wide" frequency range.

Interestingly the battery not only promises up to 10 hours of playback (20 if amplifying music through 3.5mm aux in) but also doubles as a passive bass woofer. Customers wanting to augment audio even further can combine the Dash7 with the foxLO portable subwoofer.

The First THX High-Efficiency Amp

Benchmark Media Systems announces the first product incorporating all-analog, high-efficiency amplifier technology from THX-- the AHB2, a stereo amp promising to eliminate “the distortion limitations of classic amplifier topologies.”

AHB2Named in honour of Benchmark founder Allen H. Burdik, the AHB2 is a 2-channel audio amp claiming low distortion (less than 0.00013% THD at 1kHz) and 130dB dynamic range. Power is 2 x 170W into 4 ohms or 340W bridged mono into 8 ohms.

All is packed in an enclosure measuring 9 x 28 x 23cm.

Bose (Also) Takes on Wireless Audio

After Samsung Bose is the next to take on wireless audio space-- the company launches SoundTouch, a custom-wireless audio system range able to automatically network SoundTouch speakers.

Bose SoundTouchIn other words, it all sounds quite similar to what Sonos does with its signature wireless systems.

SoundTouch systems are available in 3 sizes-- SoundTouch 30 for big rooms, 20 for medium-sized rooms and Portable for small rooms or portable applications-- and play/stream music from either local sources or Pandora, but lack access to other online streaming sources such as Spotify, iTunes, Radio or iHeartRadio.
