Pioneer Intros IMAX Enhanced AVRs

Pioneer is the next company to join the IMAX Enhanced initiative as it announces a pair of network AVRs-- the VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304-- and a home theatre package compatible with the quality and performance standard.

Pioneer AVRThe VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304 are 9-channel Dolby Atmos models with DTS:X decoding optimised for IMAX Enhanced software. The design enables 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 immersive audio setups, and the AVRs feature x7 HDMI inputs and x2 HDMI outputs with HDCP 2.2, 4K/60Hz, Dolby Vision, HLG and WCG (wide colour gamut) support. Power output clocks at 215W per channel and 185W per channel (into 6 Ohms) for the VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304 respectively.

Dynaudio Joins The CEDIA Designer Manufacturer Database

Danish hifi, pro-studio and automotive speaker specialist Dynaudio confirms its commitment to the CI and AV sectors as it joins The CEDIA Designer's (TCD) global cloud-based design software database.

Dynaudio tdcTCD helps installers design and create cinema or media rooms using products from a wide range of manufacturers. Dynaudio products currently available on TCD include the Emit and Contour hifi speaker ranges, together with the Cinema Master 60 reference LCR speaker, the Studio series architectural range and the Sub3 and Sub6 active subwoofer. Future products will be added as they hit the market.

Onkyo Presents "Value-Packed" AVR Duo

Onkyo announces a pair of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X enabled AV receivers-- the 5.2-channel TX-SR393 (155 W/Ch) and 7.2 TX-SR494 (160 W/Ch), both promising "extraordinary flexibility to simplify next-generation home entertainment."

Onkyo AVRAccording to Onkyo, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X bring 3D audio to any speaker configuration, with metadata transposing sound origin within a scene to a corresponding positioning within the listening space. The TX-SR393 offers a 3.2.2-channel solution to native Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based playback, while the TX-SR494 offers 5.2.2 channels. Meanwhile Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X technologies upmix legacy soundtracks for playback through any speaker layout, including those with height channels, for more spatially realistic audio.

Barco Shows Digital Canvases at ISE 2019

Pioneer announces a 2019 AV receiver-- the VSX-934, a mid-range model with support for 5.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio setups, allowing customers to enjoy 3D audio without installing speakers in the ceiling.

Pioneer VSX-934Being an update on the VSX-933, the VSX-934 supports Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer and DTS Virtual:X technology (via future firmware update) to create "virtual" height and surround sound if the space lacks speakers in the specific positions. Meanwhile DTS Neural:X and Dolby Surround technologies upmix "2D" soundtrack formats to reproduce surround sound with a "wrap-around" feeling from audio encoded on DVD, Blu-ray discs or select video streaming services.

Lexicon Joins IMAX Enhanced

Lexicon is the next home theatre specialist to join the IMAX Enhanced program, as it announces compatibility with a number of products, namely the MC-10 processor, and the RV-9 and RV-6 receivers.

Lexicon mc10The receivers and processors will receive a firmware update allowing reproduction of the full dynamic range of a proprietary IMAX audio mix, as translated for home theatre environments and delivered using a variant of the DTS:X codec. Lexicon is one of the first IMAX Enhanced licensees, meaning it meets a set of performance standards set by a certification committee of IMAX and DTS engineers and technical specialists from Hollywood.

Trinnov Audio Supports DTS:X Pro

Trinnov Audio announces the addition of DTS:X Pro immersive audio technology support to the high-end Altitude processor range, a first for the high-end residential market according to the company.

Trinnov DTS:XDTS:X is an immersive object-oriented audio format. As used in high-end commercial cinemas, DTS:X utilises up to 64 uniquely-rendered channels (plus LFE) for high spatial resolution and realism. However, the residential version of DTS:X has been limited to a total of 11.1 channels, meaning 7 "bed" channels at listener level, an LFE channel, and 4 upper channels above the listening area.
