Natec ExtremeNatec's releases new firmware updates for its Extreme Media HD-200 media player, adding more support and fixes including HDMI connection improvement, bittorent support and a shared folder option.

The Extreme Media HD-200 supports the majority of video, picture and audio file formats, and is able to play films at 1080p. It supports file playback via home network, and can even operate without a HDD.

It carries Realtek's RTD 1073DD+ chipset, and can also read multiple flash card formats via USB card reader as well as support NTFS-partitioned HDDs. Connection-wise it carries x1 ethernet, x3 USB 2.0 and x1 HDMI.

The latest beta firmware release (D2.34) also adds support for Youtube, MediaFly, Last.FM and internet radio stations.

Streaming Video Over Wifi

VAP 2400Motorola takes on wireless video streaming with its VAP2400-- using wifi to carry video content throughout clients' homes.

It delivers an array of services, including multi-room DVR and digital content sharing, with low latency and near-zero packet loss. Motorola says it is the first IPTV video bridge solution to offer 4x4 beamforming. It should also handle multiple concurrent HD streaming through multiple walls.

It also supports TR-069 remote management, while it can self-install via auto-detection and auto-provisioning capabilities.

The company says the VAP2400 should be available for global delivery from Q3 2011.

RemoteCustomers with a penchant for watching TV while bathing can rest easy-- TileVision releases a waterproof universal remote.

It has an IP67 waterproof rating, allowing for use in areas described as "wet", (such as, well, baths). If dropped in said bath it will merrily float its way around, possibly to join one's rubber duckie and toy boat.

As a universal remote it also comes pre-programmed with over 2000 codes for TVs, satellite receivers, dvd players and vcr recorders, with 38 buttons in total. In total it can handle up to 3 devices (any TV + 2 AV sources).

Completing the package is a self-adhesive remote control holder.

IR ReceversEbode's Pro Mini and Pro Flush Mount receiver kits are in stock-- allowing users to store their A/V components in a cabinet while still allowing control.

The receivers are compatible with all formats (including RCMM, RC5/6 and XMP) with an IR frequencey range of 30 - 60kHz, while a filtering circuit prevents interference from flat screen TVs and lighting sources.

The remote-control signal receivers are mains powered and carry a status/feedback LED. The Mini receiver is small enough for one to attach it to a flat panel TV, while the Flush mounts onto a cabinet or panel.

The Flush kit includes x4 interchangeable coloured top covers (in black, white, brushed chrome and brass).

The company also has 2 other kits working with a table top mouse receiver-- the IR Link C (works via COAX) and IR Link Pro (with status and feedback LED).

AC Ryan is at Home at CeBIT

AC Ryan Sitting around was just part of CeBIT business for AC Ryan....the company shows off their product focus on Full HD network media players and recorders at CeBIT. Their Playon! and FLUXX series completed a living room scene in Hall 14.

AC Ryan says Fluxx is "the first Full HD media player to ship with Intel's Atom CE4150 processor." With 1.2GHz processing, 400MHz graphics and 1GB DDR3 memory, 2GB NAND-flash, AC Ryan offers models with up to 2TV at mass market prices.

Comes with Gigabit Wired Network and optional wireless_N via USB.

CyWee Wireless and Motion-sensing wizard CyWee showed buyers the AirShuttle,  the first (and only) MFi-certified accessory that enables real-time audio and video transmission from an iPod, iPhone, or iPad.  Without the use of cables, users can now share mobile content on-the-go and at home via TV.

Borg ProtegeIn-wall touch-controller manufacturer Borg Displays starts what it calls the Micro-OEM program-- allowing professionals, application providers and OEms to order customised version of its Protégé touch controllers.

Any aspect of the device can be changed-- from company and brand logos to icons, bezel colour, look/feel, button integration  and boot up splash screen in the respective OS.

Orders can be as small as required-- even up to a single unit.

Borg's interface solutions run on either Windows XPe, WinCE and Linux, and come in 4", 6", 8", 10" and 15" sizes.
