The compact Vivitek HK2288 promises both big screen detail and contrast as well as low-latency processing for customers wanting to both watch movies and play games, all with 4K resolution and HDR support.

Vivitek ProjectorThe projector features a Texas Instruments 0.66-inch 4K DLP DMD chip able to generate 8.3 million individual pixels. Also included are DLP DarkChip3 and BrilliantColor refinements for deep black levels and vibrant cinematic images. To resolve a 4K 1-pixel line pattern, the HK2288 uses eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR) technology employing 4.15 million (2716 x 1528) mirrors capable of switching over 9000 times per second to deliver two discrete pixels for each mirror per frame.

Accessory maker Anker announces a sequel to the Nebula Capsule pico projector-- the Nebula Capsule II, a cylindrical number able to project 1280 x 720 resolution images up to 100-inch via brighter 200 lumens lamp.

Nebula Capsule IIThe Nebula Capsule II promises a number of improvements over the first version. It stands 15cm tall and runs on Android TV 9.0, meaning it supports a number of streaming and media apps, including Google Play, YouTube and Netflix. Google Assistant also comes included, with a built-in microphone allowing for voice control, and users can Cast media to the projector through other Android devices.

Screen Innovations announces the Solo Pro-- a range of highly customisable motorised screens a single person can carry and install in 5 minutes-- is available with an ambient light rejecting (ALR) Short Throw screen material.

Solo ProThe company says the combination of Solo Pro with the ALR Short Throw material overcomes some of the obstacles traditionally associated with two-piece projection. Epson Adds Entry-Level Home Cinema 4010

Epson follows on the CEDIA Expo 2018 launch of the Pro Cinema 4050 4K projector with the Home Cinema 4010-- an entry-level number able to use "pixel-shifting" in order to project a quasi-4K resolution image.

Epson 4010The Home Cinema 4010 uses three LCD panels to create three 1080p microdisplays. The result is images with maximum input resolution of 4096 x 2160, as well as 10-bit colour, 200000:1 contrast ratio and HDR10 support (but no Dolby Vision or HDR10+). Image brightness reaches a maximum of 2400 lumens.

Optoma Adds 4K Voice Assistant-Compatible, Portable HD Projectors

Optoma launches a full series of projectors-- the UHL55, LH150, LV130 and ML1050ST. The UHL55 is perhaps the most interesting, since it features Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, integrated Android OS and a 4K UHD HDR media player.

Optoma projectorAs well as voice control, the UHL55 also includes auto focus and auto keystone correction, and NuForce stereo audio. The Android OS handles a number of media streaming apps, such as Netflix, YouTube, Spotify and BBC News, among others, and an Optoma Marketplace app provides easy access to streaming services and additional entertainment options.

Meanwhile the LH150 is a 1300 lumen 1080p LED projector. It carries a 12000mAh battery delivering up to 2.5 hours of viewing time, and the RGB LED light source provides up to 30000 hours. The LV130 is an ultra-portable 300 lumen WVGA projector. It has a 6700mAh battery, and connectivity via HDMI and MHL 2.2 inputs. The final projector, the ML1050ST, is an ultra-compact 1000 lumen short throw projector with WXGA resolution.
