Qorvo Acquires GreenPeak Technologies

GreenPeak

Qorvo (an American-based provider of core technologies and RF solutions for mobile, infrastructure and defense applications) signs to acquire privately-held GreenPeak Technologies, a leader in ultra-low power, short range RF communication technology who celebrated the shipment of its 100 millionth ZigBee chip to the smart home market in 2015.

The acquisition of Netherlands-based GreenPeak will allow Qorvo to expand its customer offering to include highly integrated RF solutions and systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) for the connected home and the rapidly growing Internet of Things (IoT).

Rovi Buys DVR Maker TiVo

Entertainment company maker Rovi acquires DVR STB maker TiVo for $1.1 billion-- creating a single company running under the "iconic TiVo brand" with Rovi CEO Tom Carson as leader.

CEDIA Brings Groups to EMEA

Following a successful US launch CEDIA brings CEDIA Groups to EMEA-- a peer-to-peer networking initiative providing an opportunity for installers to talk shop and share best practices with peers.

CEDIA Each group involves the discussion of challenges and opportunities members face in a confidential and non-competitive manner. Legrand Buys More Networking With Luxul

Home and commercial automation vendor Legrand buys IP networking provider Luxul Wireless, adding to a stable of brands including the likes of On-Q, Vantage, Middle Atlantic, QMotion and NuVo, among others.

Legrand LuxulFinancial details of the deal are not available.

Luxul provides networking for custom integration systems aimed at residential and SMB applications. According to Legrand such capabilities make Luxul products highly in demand, especially when one considers the current growth of internet of things (IoT) and automation systems.

CEDIA Extends 2016 Awards Deadline

Installers wanting to participate in the CEDIA Awards get an extra week to finalise and submit entries-- the association extends the submissions deadline for the annual Awards to 25 April 2016.

CEDIA Awards“The industry has never been busier than it currently is and we recognise that it can be extremely difficult to balance client work and submitting award entries,” CEDIA EMEA says. “We have therefore decided to extend the deadline to allow members to complete their entries to the best of their ability without undue pressure. The response to this year’s awards has been incredible and we are looking forward to seeing all entries later this month.”
