Helios cablesMetra Home Theatre Group (MHTG) debuts the Helios DisplayPort cables at CES 2020-- a range of cables with support for video resolutions reaching up to 8K avaialable in 90cm (AS-DP-3003), 1.8m (AS-DP-3006) and 2.7m (AS-DP-3009) lengths.

The Helios cables work with resolutions ranging from HD (1920×1080@60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz) to 8K (7680×4320 @ 60Hz, 10-bit color, RGB 4:4:4, HDR, DSC), and support the highest quality audio pass-through for digital 7.1, 5.1 or 2 channels. They are also designed to facilitate multi-monitor configuration with a Display Port 1.4 cable, and are backwards compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 cables.

HDMI Licensing Group Intros Mandatory 8K Certification

The HDMI Forum sets to ensure the quality of Ultra High Speed HDMI cables hitting the market through a mandatory certification program for all cables to assure support for all HDMI 2.1 features, including 4K and 8K video, HDR, VRR and eARC.

8K CertificationThe certification process includes testing to meet current EMI requirements to minimise interference. All certified cables of any length must pass certification testing at an HDMI Authorised Testing Center (ATC). Once certified, cables will be required to affix an Ultra High Speed HDMI Certification Label to each package, notifying consumers of the certification status of the product.

Hall Research Intros SnugFit Latching Cables

Snugfit cableHall Research announces the CHD-SF SnugFit latching cables able to provide 18Gb/s bandwidth for 4K video designed for critical applications demanding a tight and reliable HDMI cables.

According to the company, HDMI cables do not secure the connector, and can become unplugged with as little as 2 pounds of force. The SnugFit cables use spring-loaded protrusions on the top and sides of the HDMI connector to increase the retention force. The top tabs are positioned in such a way to snap into slots in compatible mating connectors, providing tactile and audible feedback of a proper connection.
