Pangea Audio Intros Premer SE Optical Cables

  • PDF

The Pangea Audio Premier SE Optical Cable features a multi-core plastic optical fibre (POF) able to overcome the "scattering effect" of light waves typical of single-core cables, bringing a boost in performance.

Pangea optical cableThe scattering effect often leads the digital signal to zigzag off the cladding (or skin) of common mass market cables, resulting in overall inferior sonics.

Described as a step-up cable designed by and for audiophiles, the Premier SE Optical Cable features a polished termination in a fine grit abrasive material resulting in an optically transparent end. The finaly polished, optically transparent end provides better termination with a bare minimum of loss compared to the hot plate method employed on cut-rate products, at least according to Pangea.

The latest white paper from CEDIA-- titled "Infrastructure Cabling for Voice, Data and Video"-- is all about the ever-changing world of cabling for home technology professionals.

CEDIA white paperAs one might expect, the white paper takes a deep dive into applications, standards and recommendations for use of a variety of cable families. It aims to demystify infrastructure cabling in all kinds of projects, and moves from the history and properties of each medium to advice on future-proofing.

Focus areas include cable geometry, shielding, power, applications and certifications, and a total of three cable families-- balanced twisted pair, optical fibre and coaxial-- are examined. The white paper features contributions from CEDIA director of technical content David Meyer and CEDIA volunteers, and includes a supplemental overview of cable jacket fire ratings.
