Chord Company Adds XLPE to More Cables

The Chord Company adds XLPE technology to two more loudspeaker cables-- the Odyssey and Epic both receive an upgrade from the original PTFE (what most people know as Teflon) to XLPE (aka Cross-Linked Polyetylene).

Chord Company XLPEThe OdysseyX and EpicXL join several recently launched loudspeaker cables offering improved performance over the previous versions. XPLE promises improved phase properties over PTFE insulation, while offering a lower pricepoint compared to the flagship Taylon insulation. Cables featuring the technology also include silver-plated ChordOhmic speaker plugs.

Extron Ships HD Pro Plenum Cables

Extron announces the HD Pro Plenum Series-- active, hybrid optical-copper cables for high-speed HDMI digital video and audio signal transmission, with support for data rates reaching up to 18Gbps.

Extron Plenum cableThe cables also support video resolutions up to 4K/60 @ 4:4:4 with HDR, EDID, HDCP and CEC, as well as HDMI audio formats. The active cables are unidirectional, and draw only nominal power from the connected HDMI source device. Diameter is just 4mm, and offers a narrow bend radios for easy installation and uncompromised performance. A combination of traditional copper and fibre optics makes a cable reaching up to 91.4m in length.

A Flexson Desk Stand for the Sonos One

Flexson S1-DSSonos accessory maker Flexson announces a desk stand for the Sonos One and Play:1 speakers-- the S1-DS, a means to position the speaker at an angle, as well as minimise vibrations and simply add a bit more of flair to the whole setup.

The stand has the same footprint as the speaker, measuring 110 x 115 x 46mm. Available in the same shades of black and white as the Sonos offerings, it is suitable for use on coffee tables, desks and, of course, AV furniture. Construction is in metal with a chrome inlay.

The Chord Company adds the X-factor to the Rumour and Shawline speaker cable lines-- the RumourX and ShawlineX cables feature XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) technology promising superior phase qualities.

RumourXFirst seen in the SignatureXL high-end speaker cable line, the dielectric XLPE is a lower-cost alternative to Taylon, the phase-stable insulation material used in the Sarum T and ChordMusic speaker cables. The technology has now trickled down to two other Chord Company cable lines, namely Rumour and Shawline.
