The First THX High-Efficiency Amp

Benchmark Media Systems announces the first product incorporating all-analog, high-efficiency amplifier technology from THX-- the AHB2, a stereo amp promising to eliminate “the distortion limitations of classic amplifier topologies.”

AHB2Named in honour of Benchmark founder Allen H. Burdik, the AHB2 is a 2-channel audio amp claiming low distortion (less than 0.00013% THD at 1kHz) and 130dB dynamic range. Power is 2 x 170W into 4 ohms or 340W bridged mono into 8 ohms.

All is packed in an enclosure measuring 9 x 28 x 23cm.

According to Benchmark the amp allows one to "discover previously overlooked nuances, dynamics, and detail in favorite [high resolution] recordings and experience the full potential of the latest high-resolution 24-bit PCM and 1-bit DSD audio formats."

Aimed at both professional and consumer markets, it features Speakon connectors and standard binding posts for home audio installation.
