Italy-based audio maker Eighteen Sound announces the 18iD-- an extended low frequency neodymium transducer for use with Class D and similar (iPal compatible) amplifiers.
It is designed for vented and bandpass subwoofer cabinets and works best with amplifiers capable of delivering 2600W of power (10000W peak).
The transducer features a 5.3-inch inside-outside ISV (Interleaved Sandwich Voice) coil. A low-density material air diffractor inside the heatsink acts as a cooling system, increasing power handling capability and lower power compression figures.
Eighteen Sound says the 18iD performs under inclement weather condition thanks to a cone treatment providing water repelling properties on both sides of the cone. A special coating on both top and back plates also makes the trasducer more resistant to the corrosive effects of salts and oxidisation.
