Naim Intros Muso Wireless Audio

British audio maker Naim launches its first wireless product-- the Muso, a speaker/soundbar system complete with AirPlay, aptX Bluetooth and UPnP (Universal Plug 'n' Play) connectivity.

Naim MusoFeaturing an industrial design similar to the company's high-end Statement amplifier, the Muso carries six 75W digital amps driving 6 custom-designed speakers, with two midrange drivers (in an own enclosure), two tweeters and two "racetrack" bass drivers. An embedded dual-band wifi antenna handles wireless connectivity.

The internal speaker cabinet is in wood, with an aluminium skin for extra dampening for distortion-free sound. Taking care of thermal performance is a solid extruded aluminium heat sink, ad the speaker grille is replaceable with 3 optional colour versions.

It handles most file formats (Apple Lossless, WAV, FLAC, MP3, Ogg, AAC and AIFF) at up to 24-bit/192kHz, and has native support for popular streaming services and internet radio. Digital input allows connection to STBs or TVs, and it also includes further wired input via USB or 3.5mm jack.

Control comes through either touch-sensitive volume assembly (a solid aluminium ring with a patent-pending illumination system) or Muso iOS/Android app.

The Muso hits the market from September 2014.
