Lenco Intros PlayLink Wireless Audio

Swiss audio maker Lenco launches PlayLink, a multi-room audio system range incorporating Qualcomm's AllPlay wireless audio technology to stream both local and online content from iOS and Android devices.

Lenco PlayLinkAllPlay uses wifi, supports high resolution audio codecs and allows cross-platform compatibility with other audio devices featuring the technology. It is built on AllJoyn, an open source software framework enabling vendors to create products able to discover, connect and communicate with other AllJoyn-enabled products.

The PlayLink range features 3 products-- the PlayLink 4 and PlayLink 6 speakers, and the PlayConnect box.

The Playlink 4 is the more compact and portable option featuring a removable battery, while the PlayLink 6 is larger and promises "maximum power and connectivity." Both carry 3 drivers, with an extended range woofer, and two mid/tweeter drivers.

Lenco says the mediums are offset at 6-degrees from the speaker axis to optimise a wide stereo effect, and each speaker also features a digital amp with 3 outputs for high power and low distortion.

Audio format support includes AIFF, WAV, M4A, MP3, FLAC, AAC and ALAC, while connectivity also includes ethernet and Bluetooth.

Meanwhile the PlayConnect box allows customers to add wireless connectivity to their current audio equipment for streaming or connection to other wireless devices.

Customers can use PlayLink devices as either a single product in a single room or as a vehicle for whole-home audio with up to 10 other speakers using preset Party Mode and Multi-Zone functions.
