B&O Adds to BeoPlay With S8

Bang & Olufsen announces an "entry-level" wireless audio addition to the BeoPlay family-- the BeoPlay S8, a 2.1 speaker system featuring a sculpture-style subwoofer and a pair of circular satellites.

BeoPlay S8The 3 components are feature a seamless aluminium unibody designed by the man behind the BeLab 14 surround-sound setup, Torsten Valeur of David Lewis Designs.

Internally the sub carries an 8-inch bass driver and a class-D 280W amp to cover the 20-150Hz frequency range, while the satellites use 2.5-inch full-range drivers and a dedicated 140W class-D amp.

Customers can mount the satellites using the included wall brackets or table stands, and the sub features a switch to select between "wall" or "corner" positions.

The system connects to streaming music hubs, regular audio amplifiers and, of course, B&O products such as the Beolab 17 wireless speaker system and be Beovision Avant.

The BeoPlay S8 is available from September 2014.
