DTS Play-Fi Gets Spotify Compatibility

Play-Fi, the DTS equivalent of the likes of Apple Airplay and Sonos wireless streaming, gets Spotify compatibility, allowing Premium subscribers to stream music to Play-Fi speakers at the highest quality.

Spotify connectOn launch Play-Fi is available on connected speakers from Definitive Technology, Phorus, Polk Audio and Wren.

"With its massive song library and more than one billion playlists created by users, Spotify is a significant addition to the Play-Fi ecosystem," DTS says. "We believe that Spotify users around the world will appreciate the superior sound quality and convenience of the Play-Fi audio experience for all of their music."

Spotify Premium subscribers can also see all connected Play-Fi enabled speakers on the wifi network within the Spotify app, as well as launch and use the Spotify service from Play-Fi apps from both speaker makers and DTS itself.

Play-Fi runs over wifi, as well as ethernet, Powerline and other IP-based networking technology, with no need for proprietary bridges and routers. The companion Play-Fi apps also feature access for online radio stations, podcasts, locally-stored music, media servers and select cloud-based music services.
