Pro-Ject Audio Systems celebrates its 25th anniversary with The Classic-- a turntable with a design inspired by famous models from the 50s, 60s and 70s featuring adjustable feet and a new tonearm.
The turntable has a two-plinth design the company claims helps isolate the sub-chasses and reduce interference between different deck parts, as well as effectively decouple the motor from the main bearing and tonearm.
Also promising to further improve sound quality is a dual-platter, while the main plattered is machined in a special aluminiuim alloy and lined with damping material. Meanwhile the purpose-built tonearm and bearing assembly offer ultra-low friction. The turntable is fitted with an Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge, but the turntable supports various counterweights of up to 25g.
The Classic is available from June 2016 in 3 finishes-- Eucalyptus, Rosenut and Walnut. The new tonearm will also be sold separately.
