British hifi specialist Cyrus announces an addition to the One stereo amplifier range-- the One Cast, a version adding connected smarts to the audio setup with the ability to handle both streaming audio services and voice assistants.
Described by the company as a piece of smart audiophile equipment, the One Cast features wired connectivity as well as dual-band wifi and Bluetooth. It supports the three major voice assistants (Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and Google Assistant) together with the Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music and Qobuz streaming music services, among others. Users don't even need to download a companion app, since they can pair the streaming service directly with the unit.
Wired inputs, on the other hand, include USB, HDMI with ARC, optical, coax, RCA with MM phono stage and configurable RCA, allowing customers to connect the unit with just about anything else in the media setup. The USB input supports DSD128 and PCM 32-bit/192kHz files, while pre-outs allow connection with a separate power amplifier. A Speaker Impedance Detection feature calibrates the amplifier inside the One Cast to connect speakers.
Speaking of the amplifier, the One Cast carries a 4th generation Hybrid Class D amplifier providing 100W output per channel. It also includes a Class AB headphone amp feeding a 6.33mm socket on the front panel.
