IKEA Parties With Teenage Engineering

IKEA takes on the house party as it launches Frekvens, a line of modular Bluetooth-enabled speakers, party lights and appropriate furniture designed in collaboration with Swedish CE maker Teenage Engineering.

Ikea Frekvens

The results of the partnership have been a long time coming-- after all, IKEA first announced the partnership back in June 2017. At the heart of the Frekvens (translates to "frequency") collection is the portable music system. It consists of an 8-inch tall speaker complete with 10-hour battery life and either black and red or black and yellow design, a larger option with a subwoofer and a small 4-inch speaker complete with belt clip for carrying around the party.

All the speakers promise high-quality Teenage Engineering sound, and are designed for pairing with the Frekvens LED spotlight, LED multi-use lights and light-up speaker base. In addition, the Frekvens range includes more typical IKEA offerings such as chairs, barstools, cups, serving trays and even a raincoat. You know, in case the party just gets too wild.

“We know that for younger people spontaneity is key,” IKEA says. “The idea of gathering some friends could become a reality in minutes. What is needed to have a good party at home? That’s what we wanted to investigate with Frekvens. Together with Teenage Engineering, we have explored the possibilities of taking the party with us.”

The Frekvens range is available from February 2020.
