VidaBox improves the "Drop-n-Rip Archiving" software on the LiivNAS Blu-ray, DVD and music servers-- the system now automatically updates missing metadata and allows for easy imports of digital video content.
Metadata updates take place automatically whenever the server is connected to the internet, and include missing cover art and details. This replaces the use of VidaBox's Collection Management software.
“These new features make our LiivNAS an ideal choice for clients who have an existing movie collection that they want to integrate seamlessly, and also in setups where internet connectivity is not guaranteed,” VidaBox says. “ For example, in mobile installations like yachts or planes, an internet connection is not always available. Discs archived during these internet outages will appear as “Other Title” or other generic description, since there’s no metadata. This leads to confusion, especially if many titles were archived during the outage."
Meanwhile digital video formats handled by the LiivNAS include ISO, MKV, MP4, M4V and AVI.
Another feature added by the software update is optional 2-way automation controls allowing integration with systems from Bitwise, Crestron, Control4 and RTI, among others.
The new software features are available as a free software update from the VidaBox website, and ship in new LiivNAS units.
