Marantz announces a compact network AV receiver-- the NR1607, a sequel to 2015's NR1606 offering featuring high current descrete power channels on 7 channels, Dolby Atmos surround (up to 5.1.2) and future DTS:X audio support.
The AVR packs Bluetooth and wifi connectivity with dual antennas and dual-band (2.4/5GHz) for robust connections even in crowded areas. It handles audio streaming via AirPlay, Spotify Connected, Pandora, internet radio and local network storage drives. Lossless audio support comes through DTS:X and Dolby TrueHD as well as high-resolution FLAC, AIFF, WAV and DSD (2.8/5.6MHz) files.
On the video side the NR1607 supports 4K/60Hz video through HDMI 2.0a with BT.2020 pass-through, 4:4:4 colour, HDR, Wide Colour Gamut and the 21:0 aspect ratio. Ports include x8 HDCP 2.2 compatible HDMI ports, and scaler comes built-in.
Marantz says installation is easy through a graphical user interface, setup assistant and Audyssey MultEQ room calibration. The company also offers a companion iOS/Android app to handle control duties.
The NR1607 ships from June 2016 in black or silver-gold colour finishes.
