Oppo Presents First UHD Blu-ray Player

Oppo announces the UPD-203-- the first UHD Blu-ray player from the company, with support for 4K/UHD resolution visuals together with HDR and a variety of high resolution audio formats.

Oppo UPD-203The company says the player launches with standard HDR:10 support, with Dolby Vision upcoming in a future firmware update. As for audio, the UPD-203 carries a 32-bit DAC able to handle formats including 24-bit PCM, 2-channel DSD256 and multi-channel DSD64/128, as well as lossless high resolution audio such as AIFF, ALAC, APE, FLAV and WAV.

On the installation side the UPD-203 supports a variety of control standards, namely IR, RS-232, IR IN, 3rd party IP and HDMI CEC. USB and HDMI connectivity is included, allowing connection with sources such as satellite STBs, game consoles, PCs and other Blu-ray/UHD players. A pair of USB 3.0 ports at the rear increases the speeds of external storage, an HDMI 2.0 port takes care of video signal output with UHD output support and an HDMI 1.4 handles audio output. A further HDMI 2.0 input on the front allows users to connect 4K content from external devices.

Chassis construction is in metal, with a brushed aluminium front panel and a steel cover, with further finishing touches including gold-plated connectors and a custom-made 4K loader with an optimised laser mechanism. Oppo says European shipping should start from November 2016.
