Pioneer Intros IMAX Enhanced AVRs

Pioneer is the next company to join the IMAX Enhanced initiative as it announces a pair of network AVRs-- the VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304-- and a home theatre package compatible with the quality and performance standard.

Pioneer AVRThe VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304 are 9-channel Dolby Atmos models with DTS:X decoding optimised for IMAX Enhanced software. The design enables 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 immersive audio setups, and the AVRs feature x7 HDMI inputs and x2 HDMI outputs with HDCP 2.2, 4K/60Hz, Dolby Vision, HLG and WCG (wide colour gamut) support. Power output clocks at 215W per channel and 185W per channel (into 6 Ohms) for the VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304 respectively.

The receivers also feature multi-zone support through Powered Zone 2 and Zone 3 outputs. Zone 2 pre-amp outputs are also available, allowing customers to add a dedicated amplifier in Zone 2. Installers can also re-configure the Zone 2 pre-amp outputs as Zone B line outputs to extend the sound playing in Zone A (the main zone) to another location or wireless headphones.

The Pioneer Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration System (MCACC) provides room EQ by adjusting speaker size, level and distance, reducing standing waves, and matching the phase of LFE phase to other channels. As for wireless connectivity, the AVRs include built-in Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, DTS Play-Fi, wifi and FlareConnect, a wireless protocol able to mirror any audio source connected to the receiver on compatible speakers in another room. Custom integration features include IR-in, 12V trigger out and RS-232c

Meanwhile the HTP-076 is a 5.1-channel Bluetooth home theatre package with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X in a 3.1.2 configuration. Power output is rated at 150W per channel (into 6 ohms), and the system uses Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser and DTS Virtual:X to create a "virtual" height channel. Connectivity comes through x4 HDMI inputs and x1 HDMI output with HDCP 2.2, 4K/60Hz, Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG and WCG.

The VSX-LX504 and VSX-LX304 are available from May 2019 in a choice of black and silver finishes.
