Crestron Ships Streaming Input Card

Crestron ships the DMC-STR Streaming Input Card-- a means for card-based Crestron DM switchers to receive H.264 video over IP networks from sources such as IP cameras, streaming servers or a DMC-STRO streaming output card in another DM switcher.

DMC-STRCrestron says the signal can be distributed via HDMI, HDBaseT or fibre, as the DigitalMedia provides both point-to-point and streaming on a single platform. Streaming removes all distance limitations and uses existing infrastructure, enabling signal distribution in applications where dedicated wiring is impractical or cannot be installed.

Installers can configure the switcher on an input-by-input and output-by-output basis.

The DMC-STR supports streams at resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 and bit rates of up to 25Mbps. Streaming input can be configured to receive streams via either dedicated "Content LAN" port (isolates control and content onto separate networks) or LAN port (enables a single network connection for the entire switcher, including streaming). It receives H.264 streaming video in, before the DM switcher outputs content via any output card as any signal type or infrastructure.

Conversely, the DMC-STRO Streaming Output Card transmits any source as H.264 streaming video.

Card-based DM switchers are easily configurable, as installers can add streaming capabilities by simply adding or replacing cards, without need to replace or change switcher frames. One can even install a DMC-STR card in a DMCI card interface for a standalone streaming decoder.
