Blackfire Research Presents RED Framework

Blackfire Research announces Blackfire RED-- a real-time distribution framework described by the company as the only wireless framework built to overcome the limitations of wifi when used in media applications.

Blackfire REDAccording to the company, wifi is not enough when it comes to connectivity between consumer products. Instead, entertainment content exchange requires a common framework able to work reliably over wifi while adding a "rich set of features for a broad spectrum of entertainment content."

The technology promises to allow users to enjoy all digital content wirelessly, synchronously and seamlessly throughout the home, including 5.1-channel audio and 4K video on multiple devices, all over standard wifi. The RED framework consists of a software engine (a piece of embedded software), a communications protocol (allows Red-enabled products to talk to each other over standard network stack) and a programming interface (allows easy real-time distribution and handling of entertainment content to and from products).

The result is reliable multi-room, multi-channel low latency audio and video over wifi complete with services such as Chromecast Audio and Spotify Connect, native smart TV integration and even voice AI integration for whole-home voice control.

Blackfire adds the RED framework is already licensed by a number of global audio brands, including Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Pioneer and Integra.
