Transformative Engineering Intros HDS-42AVR HDMI Switcher

Transformative Engineering launches the HDS-42AVR-- an HDMI switcher the company claims can switch 4K sources in two outputs, one UHD 4K and the other regular HDMI but with muted video.

Transformative EngineeringTo be specific, the first output handles all UHD 4K features, including 60Hz refresh rate, 4:4:4 color, 18.2 Gbps bandwidth and support for current audio formats such as Dolby True HD and DTS Master. The second HDMI output presents full audio formats from the selected input, but with muted video (720p sync only).

Such capability allows the use of up to x4 HDMI 2.0 sources (up to HDCP 2.2) with a current-gen UHD 4K display, while transferring the audio only portion of the source to an audio playback system (such as an external surround system) that is not capable of handling the HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 signals. Thus, customers can bypass the issue where legacy AVRs or processors yield no output to the display or speakers when connected with any HDMI 2.0 signal.

In addition, installers can integrate the operation of the HDS-42AVR via IR and RS232.
