Best Buy Adds Automation Departments

Best Buy expands its home automation retail efforts as it rolls out Connected Home departments in over 400 stores across the US, spaces where it will showcase a variety of smart home products.

Connected Home Products found in Connected Home departments include security cameras (Dropcam), smart thermostats (Nest, Honeywell), smart lighting (Philips Hue), smart locks (Kwikset), garage door accessories (Chamberlain), motion, water, door and window sensors, smoke/CO2 detectors, automation/control hubs, light and appliance controls (Belkin WeMo) and energy monitors.

Also on offer are networking essentials such as routers, modems and range extenders.

The retailer's Blue Shirt employees will receive training on home automation, and 200 stores will also have what Best Buy calls Connected Home Specialists.

A final automation offering from Best Buy is an online buying guide letting customers know what is on offer in the smart home field.
