The Next Smart Home Contender: Pella

Window and door maker Pella is the next company to enter the smart home arena, as it launches the Insynctive lineup of home automation and custom installation products at CES 2015.

Pella automationThe Insynctive range covers window, door, garage door and entry deadbolt sensors, as well as motorised blinds and shades. Tying the system is a Bridge device (handles communications via Pella's own RF protocol, Z-Wave and IP) and a Status Indicator keyfob.

In fact the motorised shades offering, the Designer Series, turned most heads at the show, being a 2015 CES Innovation Awards honoree in the smart home product category. The Designer Series blinds and shades snap in and out, and are powered by solar-rechargeable batteries. Customers can control the blinds and shads via either included remote or mobile devices paired with the Insynctive bridge.

Blind and shade offerings include cellular shades, roller shades, wood blinds and between-the-glass blinds or shades.

Meanwhile the sensor options are described easy to install, and relay information via Bridge and Status Indicator.

“We know home automation is still an intimidating concept for most homeowners,” Pella says. “Incorporating Insynctive products as they are purchasing their windows or doors gives us the opportunity to help them through the entire process and simplify home automation.”

Furthermore the company also has partnerships with Wink, Nexia Home Intelligence, Crestron and Savant, with more partnerships to be announced later during the year.
