Hubbell Acquires iDevices

Lighting giant Hubbell buys into home automation with the acquisition of smart home accessory maker iDevices. Financial details of the deal are not available.

Hubbell iDevicesAccording to the two companies, the acquisition will "lay the perfect groundwork for a partnership in IoT at significant scale." It will also combine iDevice's experience in smart home solutions with Hubbell's "extensive expertise in manufacturing and distribution across residential, commercial and industrial markets."

That is why I am so excited to welcome iDevices to the Hubbell team,” the company adds. “The combination of iDevices’ cutting edge expertise in connected devices with Hubbell’s technology and vast product portfolio will drive the next wave of innovation in our industry.”

Founded in 2009 with the iGrill line of connected cooking products (a business sold in 2016 to outdoor grill maker Weber), iDevices currently offers a variety of smart home devices, all compatible with both Apple HomeKit and Amazon Alexa. These include the Socket, the Thermostat, the Wall Outlet and multiple switches.
