Enschede-based Athom announces the Homey system is now available in Germany and Switzerland, complete with a German translation of both app and the "Getting Started" section of the support website.
Founded by Emile Nijssen and Stefan Witkamp in 2014, Athom created Homey, a product combining all wireless and smart devices into a single system. The small spherical device carries a total of 7 radios for wifi, Bluetooth LE, Z-Wave Plus, NFC, 433MHz, 868MHz and ZigBee connectivity, and also includes an ethernet port.
A companion smartphone app pushes notifications from sensors and doorbells, and provides control of lights, locks, alarm systems and thermostats. Customers can also integrate systems with IFTTT, Telegram, HomeKit, Slack, Twitter and even SMS, meaning one can unlock the home smart lock with a text message.
The launch comes two and a half years after initial availability of the Homey system. So far, Homey has been available in the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway and Denmark, but not in the DACH region.
