Miraisens Intros 3D-Haptics Technology

MiraisensMiraisens in Japan wants you not only to see 3D images… but “feel” them as well.

Miraisens' 3D-Haptics Technology uses a virtual-reality headset and wrist-mounted box connected to an enabled interface device (like a fingertip-attachment, coin-shaped control stick or pen.

“With a tiny, featherweight device on your fingertip, you’ll not only be able to bring up a screen out of thin air, but also touch and feel virtual objects as if they were really there,” says the company.

With a number of possible applications for this touchable 3D technology, Miraisens wants to commercialize the technology via the electronics and services industries. A software development kit (SDK) and a content development kit are being prepared by the company with the hopes of launching a closed beta at the end of the year and an open beta in spring 2015.
