Sony presents the Cloud Remote for PS4-- a co-development with Performance Designed Products aimed at customers wanting a single means to control all AV gear connected to the console, as well as the PS4.
The Cloud Remote for PS4 automatically detects all AV hardware connected to the PS4, including the TV, projector, amplifier or speaker. To do so it uses the cloud, as built into the PDP Cloud Remote app. While not as versatile as anything from the likes of URC or Crestron, it does allow for basic functionality, as well as control of streaming services such as Netflix.
Connectivity comes via Bluetooth, and controls include power, input and volume. The remote also features the familiar PlayStation buttons, namely triangle, circle, X and square, all in a slim design putting all essential buttons under a single thumb.
Sony is still to confirm a European release for the Cloud Remote for PS4, but it is available now in the US. Purchase includes a 30-day free trial for PlayStation Vue, a service allowing users with live TV from a number of channels.
