The Self-Powering Nuimo Click Wireless Switch

Berlin-based hardware and software startup Senic presents the Nuimo Click-- a wall-mountable wireless switch with four buttons able to generate power every time they are pressed, making them self-powered.

Nuimo ClockAimed for the control of Sonos audio hardware and Philips Hue smart lighting, the Nuimo Click switches generate enough kinetic energy through button presses to power the necessary wireless communications. Thus, running a function on the Nuimo Click transforms the stored energy into enough power to send a wireless command to a companion Nuimo Hub, in turn triggering the necessary smart device control.

The Nuimo Hub has a range of up to 30m, and a single hub connects with up to 10 Nuimo Click switches. Customers can set a variety of one-click controls for smart devices through the hub, such as playing a favourite playlist, play/pause and skipping songs on Sonos speakers, or turn lights on/off, dimming and colour controls on Philips Hue bulbs.

The Nuimo Click switches should ship from December 2018. Senic offers a starter kit including the hub and two switches, and also sells switches separately.
