When Gigabytes are Not Enough

Toshiba reveals the latest Regza home server at CEATEC 2011-- the DBR-M190, with a hefty 5TB of storage, enough to store 15 days of MPEG4AVC digital video content.

Regza DBR-M190It carries eight tuners, six of which (and 4TB of storage) handling what Toshiba calls "Time Shift" recording-- real-time simultaneous recording from up to x6 digital TV stations.

The remaining 1TB of storage handles normal recording from up to x2 stations.

It can also connect to DLNA-compatible devices (such as Toshiba's AT700 Regza tablet) to either stream live TV or allow access to previously recorded content over wifi.

The package also includes Blu-ray playback.

The DBR-M190 will be available on the Japanese market from November, with no mention of an international release-- especially since Time Shift recording is currently only compatible with Japanese cable TV.
